GLUTEN FREE ASIAN STYLE COOKING CLASS WITH MARNI WASSERMAN
WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 19, 2011, 6:30PM TO 9:30PM.
This is one of the new features on my website. I would like to get to know all of my gluten free friends a little bit better, so I have conducted a poll.
AT HOME ORGANIC FARMS
I have always loved to garden. Every year I dream of producing beautiful fruits and vegetables that my family can enjoy. This is so complimentary to living on a healthy gluten free diet (or any healthy diet for that matter!) However, I am not the accomplished gardner I wished I could be, until now... I was fortunate enough to come across www.athomeorganicfarms.com. This company builds, plants, and maintains my organic garden for the season. I got to name my garden, Jo's Best Ever Kitchen Garden, and pick the plants that I want to grow.! I am responsible for watering the garden as I am instructed by email and I am in charge of harvesting and eating the vegetables when they are ready. I am so excited to be doing this and I will be taking pictures as we go along, so stay tuned!!!!!
Roasted Beet and Feta Salad Recipe
In keeping with my garden theme, I found a great recipe in the June issue of Canadian Living Magazine that is naturally gluten free and uses ingredients that I have growing in my garden.
MILESTONES RESTAURANT
We had dinner last night at Milestones in Richmond Hill, located at Warden Avenue and Highway 7. We were so pleasantly surprised by the gluten free menu, which had a nice selection to choose from, 2 appetizers, 3 entrees, and 2 desserts. They were very careful with our order and made sure we were okay with everything they served. They had no problem discussing ingredients and checked to make sure that our gluten free needs were taken care of.
The meal was delicious and we enjoyed ourselves. It was a special night, Happy 48th Anniversary to my parents, and many thanks to Jess our waitor and Hannah the manager for making this a great night out!!!
NUT'N GLUTEN
This store is family owned and they take alot of care in helping out the gluten free (and nut free) community. I always feel grateful when I go into this store and pleased with my purchases when I leave.
If you live in the Greater Toronto Area and haven't been to Nut'N Gluten yet, I urge you to go check it out. You won't be disappointed!
They are located at 3120 Rutherford Road, which is Rutherford Rd just west of Jane Street. Sale this weekend at Nut'n Gluten Specialty Foods

This summer I found great gluten free food north of the city.
Orillia Farmer's Market had 2 gluten free vendors;
1) Donna's Homestead Bakery. They are located in Rosseau, Ontario and their products are free of gluten, dairy, and soy. They had a huge variety of gluten free baked goods. Phone 705-732-2064 or email Donna at
sickleandscythe@gmail.comOur personal favourite are the Belgian Waffles, the best I've tasted!
2)Saigon Soul Food. They are located in Hamilton, Ontario and they make gluten free spring rolls, traditional and vegetarian. Not all their products are gluten free but they can tell you which products are safe and the products are well labeled. They carry roasted garlic plum sauce that is gluten free and goes well with the spring rolls.
The Orillia Farmers Market goes indoors for the winter, so you can continue to enjoy these products even in the months ahead!
These gluten free granola bars, ginger cookies, and spicy pumpkin bread are delicious and healthy.
While I was in Oakville I discovered a great new place called VOILA GLUTEN FREE BAKEREE. I was lucky enough to sample some of their wonderful products.
Here is a picture of the food I sampled at this new bakery:

Chocolate chip cookies, Oatmeal cookies, dinner rolls, and brown rice bread and ALL were delicious!
